Hello. I am June M. Young and I am a NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to my unique social work practice. I have been a social worker for over 15 years and have a variety of experience with different populations. The one population that is near and dear to my heart is working with individuals with special needs. I am currently focusing but not limiting my practice to work with individuals and families with special needs. Although the person with the disability is open to a variety of services, often the family members – parents, spouses, and siblings get left behind. I believe that any disability affects all members of the family and the family as a unit as well.
In addition to doing individual and group work with children and adolescents with any kind of disabling condition I also work with parents and siblings. If the whole family can work together as a team to support one another they can all reap the benefits of a happy and healthy life worth living. As a sibling and parent to disabled individuals and a former special education teacher I know what it’s like to be at home or in the classroom with challenging individuals. I also know that it is important for the caregiver to take care of himself or herself first in order to be better prepared to deal with the daily stresses and difficulties that life presents.
